A look back at one of our most atmospheric hospitality projects — a boutique inn in the heart of Somerset.
The Archangel in Frome, Somerset is one of those truly special places — a historic coaching inn with bags of character, now part of the Butcombe family of pubs and inns. Back in 2021, we were thrilled to be selected by interior designer Matt Rawlinson of Raw Design to create bespoke designs for three of their stunning attic bedrooms.
The Brief
The challenge was to create something truly immersive and dramatic for unique attic rooms with sloping ceilings and skylights — spaces that needed designs as characterful as the building itself. Matt Rawlinson selected all three designs from the ATADesigns collections, with each piece then made entirely bespoke to fit the unique dimensions of each space.
The Designs
Angels Eden — Bespoke Wallpaper Feature Wall
Matt selected Angels Eden from the ATADesigns collection for a dramatic feature wall in one of the attic bedrooms. We made it entirely bespoke to fit the unique sloping walls and skylights, creating an ethereal, atmospheric scene of angels, botanicals and aged textures.
Kews Ghost Roses — Bespoke Fabric Headboard
From our All Things British Collection, Matt chose Kews Ghost Roses to upholster a bespoke fabric headboard in a second bedroom, made bespoke to fit perfectly.
Ladies of Fleur — Bespoke Fabric Headboard
From the Italian Infusion Collection by ATADesigns & Elisa Fanella, Matt selected Ladies of Fleur for a bespoke fabric headboard in a third bedroom, again made bespoke to fit.
The Result
The finished bedrooms are simply stunning — dramatic yet intimate, with every detail considered. The Angels Eden wallpaper transforms the sloping attic walls into something truly extraordinary, while the bespoke fabric headboards add warmth and luxury to these unique boutique spaces.
